Ecogy User Management 101

This article is aimed at educating AMS User Admins on the fundamentals and importance of being an Ecogy User Admin. The article reviews how to manage new User Types / Users / Permissions to provide optimal user experience.

If you are configured as a User Admin - you will have access to the User Management View. Click the Tile Drop Down > “Manage Users”

Within the Manage Users Portal you will find 3 key views:

1. Audit - view all historical changes associated with Users OR User Types

2. Users - this is where an Admin can:

   1. Create a new user

      1. Setup Profile with appropriate name, email, time zone and access window (start and end date) as applicable.

      2. Assign the new User with a “User Type.” The user Type will set the default modules/view access along with default permissions.

      3. Enable Data Downloading

      4. Set Access to Specific Projects/Portfolios

   2. View/Manage/Update the Profile, Permissions and Security of existing users

3. Users Types

   1. Create a new User Type

      1. User Types are utilized to categorize users and apply default Applications Access (AMS v Econode), Views and platform Permissions to new users within those categories. This is critical for Ecogy to maintain user satisfaction and reduce “information overload” as users should only receive access to views/modules that they require to function in their role.

      1. Edits to a User Type’s Permissions will NOT affect the permissions for pre-existing users of that User Type

      2. Edits to a User Type’s Applications Settings WILL apply to all users of that User Type - pre-existing and newly created
